Habitude Fitness

Why I Blog.

How long has it been officially? I had to go back and look! It has been over 3 years that I have been blogging. As I go back and read some of my early posts I cringe a little. Not my best work. But at that time I had no idea what I was really doing. Do I actually know what I am doing now??blogging

Starting a blog took a lot of convincing from a few friends/mentors. In January 2011 one of my New Year’s revolutions was to start the blog, and by November 2012 I did it. Mind you, I wasn’t, and still am not, very tech saavy. I wasn’t even on Facebook, and was extremely guarded about putting myself out there on the internet. A blog where people could read my writing and judge me? Ugh…sounds terrible. But I pushed through my fears and starting drafting. I wouldn’t publish anything until I completed my personal training certification (I wanted that behind my name as a blogger), and thought of a good name for the site. The name Habitude Fitness took many months to come up with. I found the word habitude while literally looking up words on dictionary.com. I knew when I found it, that was it. I actually found a word that embodied my beliefs!

In the early months I think only 3 of my friends and my mom were actually reading the blog, and that was just fine. I had a hard time advertising it to people and telling them to check it out. I was just shy about the whole thing. I then had no interest in growing as a blog or a brand, but rather just focused on posting some content my friends and fellow fitness classmates might like. I enjoyed the creative outlet of writing when I wasn’t working or teaching fitness classes.No_Print_Web_Sharing_Only_DSC_-2427309932-OFast forward to present day. I absolutely love blogging! I still don’t have much confidence in what I am doing as I feel like a tiny microscopic fish in the highly saturated market of healthy living bloggers. Despite these feelings, I really enjoy what I am doing and dream about making this blogging thing more legit. Over the last year I have read many books about growing your brand, blogging, and social media. At the beginning I had absolutely no idea how to optimize SEO or knew anything about social media marketing strategies, and honestly, I still feel like I don’t! But I am attempting to learn and apply. Slowly but surely, I make additions and adjustments to how I do things. My growth for the blog has been organic and very slow, but that’s ok.

Instead of hiding my little blog in my back pocket, I now dream of what Habitude Fitness could become. I tweet, I email, I’m on Facebook, Instagram, and  I’ve got a great Pinterest page (check it out!). Currently I am trying to figure out my niche, who exactly my audience is, and what they want to see. Naively I thought growth was natural. Not so. If you want people to see your site, you have to work really hard at. And if you want people to actually engage and follow you, you have to work even harder. I struggle here a lot because I am still somewhat shy and personal about what I should post. I have thought about stopping the blog when I feel inferior to other bloggers, but I try not to compare where they are today to my current beginnings.untitledThough I dream about being an entrepreneur and what business I could create, making an income doing something I love, and helping tons of people, the real reasons I blog are:
1. I have always loved to write.
2. I am passionate about health, wellness, and taking care of ourselves; not just fitness.
3. I have an artistic and creative bug. This, along with fitness has been a surprisingly fulfilling outlet for that.
4. Probably the main reason I blog; I love encouraging people. A reader, a follower, a friend, a liker, or a guest writer-encouraging people through the blog brings me great joy. I am different from other online wellness personalities and trainers because I offer people a lot of love and care, with a little bit of exercise and food advice sprinkled in. I never thought fitness would be such an amazing platform for me to help people. Encouraging people in whole health and in life is what I love doing. The best part is, when I am giving to someone, I am usually the one who ends up receiving so much.

More than just fitness! Doing things socially, building relationships, and getting fit as a bonus is what Habitude Fitness is all about!

Reading, following and sharing this blog with your friends is a huge gift to me. Sharing is caring! Please don’t hesitate to comment on posts you have opinions on, and always feel free to let me know what you would like to see from this site. I am currently working on learning how to use my new DSLR camera and Photoshop for better info graphics. I listen to many business/entrepreneur podcasts each week. I am learning how to connect with other bloggers in my field, and I am open to providing quality content that you want to read! I am trying to share more about myself as a person so you can get to know me better and decide if you like me and this whole health idea of living. I am trying! My days are full, but I love spending as much time as I can on all of this while always putting my family and relationships first. It’s a full life, but it is filled with happiness. And YOU and this platform help to make it so happy.come on

Thank you.
Your Trainer,
Cassie
