I cannot believe it has been a year since starting this blog. I remember the night before it launched I was a nervous wreck. I did not sleep well. I was tossing and turning thinking about the fact that I was actually going to do this; put myself out there. So many thoughts ran through my mind. As a very private person (who is a work in progress on trusting others and being more open and vulnerable), I was worried of what others would think of me. Would they respond positively, negatively, or at all to my hard work? Fear of rejection overpowered me.
I wondered why I felt called to write a wellness blog. Who am I after all? No one cares what me, a nobody, has to say when there are so many great resources available. I knew my mom would be reading, but after that I had no clue as to what may happen! Despite my fears I decided to go through with it.
I was encouraged for a couple of years prior to start a blog by my a good friend and mentor. Greg is always offering great advice not only to me, but to many of us in the Habitude Fitness community. I am grateful that he pushed me to do this. It has been a great challenge and very life-giving all at the same time.
The community and Facebook likes are still small, but my heart and hopes are big. Habitude Fitness works off of the 6 dimensions of wellness: emotional, intellectual, physical, occupational, social, and spiritual. Therefore, I never run out of topics that I desire to write about. I absolutely love when all of you inspire me to research and write. I love hearing your comments, questions, and feedback. I have received many personal benefits from Habitude Fitness, but they are secondary. I can honestly say that I do this for you! My goal is that readers feel that this is not my blog, but our blog. A place where normal, average people with a desire to be the best they can be in all facets of life come to learn, grow, share, and support. My favorite thing to do is interview you, and have you share about your own personal journeys. Everyone is so supportive and positive- and that is what I believe we need a little more of these days.
The first year was a lot of fun for me as well as challenging. However, I am excited for trying new things, taking risk, and not being afraid to fail. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your support with this adventure. I am honored when you share something with someone from this site. I would love to see this grow so we can all reach more people.
I would love to hear what some of your favorite posts, memories, or experiences were during our first year! And what you would like to see more of!
Happy First Anniversary to Habitude Fitness and to all of you!
