Try it Thursday: Your Fall KISS Workouts!

Fall is my favorite time of year to take being active outdoors. There is an amazing weather window where the sun is bright and the air is warm but not hot. The air is so crisp and clear I cannot help but to breath deeply. Once the deep breath is taken in, I almost always audibly exhale ahhh…
In the fall, even when the sun is shining, the sky has a certain type of look. It is a fall sky and it is beautiful. I love running or walking around our town and unknowingly timing my activity near football practice. Hearing the kids, the team, the band, the cheerleaders, is not only fun but brings a sensation of innocence to my soul that reminds me of the days when Friday night football games and weekends with my good buddies was my life’s top priority. If it is a cloudy or cooler day, I simply layer up a little more and can still enjoy the autumn days, in sight, in smell, in sound, in sensation, and even in memory.

So take in all that your fall days have to offer, and keep it simple sexy!

The other day I leashed up my best workout partner and we walked for about 75 minutes at a moderate pace. It was an awesome workout outdoors, taking in the weather; recognizing you do not always have to do something fast or fancy.

KISS Workout One:
Pick a tree, a mail box, a house, a park bench, a mountain, or conch shell (for my coastal readers!). Sprint or increase your intensity to that marked destination.
Pick a new destination. Decrease your intensity by jogging or walking to it.
Repeat this 4 more times for a total of 5 times.
Then perform 30 lunges, 20 squats, and 10 push ups.
Repeat this entire circuit three more times through!

KISS Workout Two:
Find a hill or gradual incline in your neighborhood or park. Walk or jog up this hill backwards!
And what goes up, must come down! Turn around and jog or walk back down! Repeat up to 10 times!
Hill work is amazing, and it is killer!

KISS Workout Three:
Just go!
You have two legs. Lace up your kicks and just get out there. Maybe you do not have to plan too much. Just like my walk the other day, I ended up going twice as far as I thought I would. Once you get out there, you will have all the motivation you need.
